- Hi I’m Maryam Ahmed and this book is based on my life! I was born in Kano State (North West Nigeria) and am a Save the Children Girl Champion. When I was 17 years old I became a child right’s activist and a member of the Abuja Children’s parliament.
- I am proud to be a girl from Northern Nigeria who was able to finish school. Now I am at university! This is not something you see very often. In my community, only 4 percent of girls get to finish secondary school. While this number may sound extreme, unfortunately it’s not uncommon around the world. Globally, girls are 3 times more likely to be out of school than boys.
- This story is based on what happened when I started to speak up about this issues. I hope you enjoy it!
“My son loved this story and even though it is a difficult topic to tell children about it was sensitively done. He wanted to tell all his friends and has been asking how he can help.”Wonderparent to a little reader aged 6 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

You’ll notice a lot of purple in this book, that’s because it is both Maryam and Shirley’s favourite colour!
